The Islamic University of Maldives signs on 2 Memorandum of Understanding’s (MoU) with International Institute of Islamic Thoughts (IIIT)
The Islamic University of Maldives – IUM signed on 2 Memorandum of Understanding’s (MoU) with International Institute of Islamic Thoughts (IIIT) , on 11th March 2017.
The MoU’s were signed by Chancellor of Islamic University of Maldives – IUM, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed and the Secretary General of IIIT, Prof. Omar Hasan Kasule. The first MoU intends to work collaboratively to promote Education, Research and Translation, and to provide opportunities to the members of 2 institutes, as well as the students to pasrticpate actively in the academic programs of the 2 institutes. The agreement envisages collaboration in the following areas;
· Joint research activities
· Joint participation in conferences, workshops, seminars and academic meetings
·Joint academic programs.
·Any other mutually agreed upon program(s)
The second MoU was mainly focused on obligating IIIT to provide scholarships to students from Maldives to study for Masters and PhD degrees in faculties of Education, Islamic Studies, Shariah and related Islamic Social Sciences. It was also agreed by IIIT to offer discount on the tuition fee, registration fee and provide stipend for the upkeep of the students. The MoU intends to educate and empower students from the Maldives to take up their rightful position in the field of teaching in private and public universities in the region. IIIT has provided 4 scholarships in the year 2017, to peruse education in the areas of Islamic Knowledge, Law and Education, and the selected students will depart on the month of September.
