  • a) An Academic Board is to be established under a regulation of the Senate as the highest level committee of the University to discuss and direct the issues related to the University’s education and knowledge.
  • b) This Board will be composed of the following persons.
    1. The Deputy Vice Chancellor (academic affairs);
    2. The deans of Faculties and the heads of other centres of the University as ex-officio members;
    3. Members elected by the University;
    4. Persons who are appointed for their opinions and views, based on their knowledge and experience.
  • c) The Senate shall establish through a regulation, the methods by which the members of the Board will be appointed or elected, the length of their membership of the Board and the manner in which the meetings of the Board will be held.
  • d) The responsibilities of the Board are as follows.
    1. Discussing and putting forward to the Senate various opinions regarding educational development, enrolment of students, examinations, academic research, conferring of certificates, maintaining the social standards of the University and actions needed to achieve the aims of the University.
    2. Reporting to the Senate on tasks that are assigned to the Board by a regulation of the Senate, and other special issues that are assigned to it by the Senate.
  • e) The Board has the power to carry out the activities that it is assigned. However, the following matters may only be decided on by the Senate.
    1. Establishing a relationship with an educational institution;
    2. Establishing or dissolving a college, faculty or similar body.
